"Creature Comforts"
When I saw the title of this article I knew it wouldn't be a normal one. This story started of with a women and her seeing eye horse. Before this, I didn't even know there were more than one type of animal that helped people other than dogs. After reading about Edie and her horse it didn't seem like a bad idea. The author had a good way of introducing the reader to the topic of service animals and the issues that came with them. Reading about the different stories about the owners and the animals gave a good point of view for the reader. Then involving the point of view of the businesses and people created a good contrast. Personally I believe that if an animal is helping with a person disability they should be able to have them no matter the places they have to go. I truly felt this way while reading about Eggers and Rose. It amazing how a bird can calm a man that has bipolar rage issues and a monkey can let a girl feel okay to go outside and socialize. As a psych major I think that is why I felt more reading about these people and their problems because they are affected by something that you can not see. Their mind. That is what I find so great about using animals as treatment or service because they can see things or "feel" them before humans can. Rose even said, "He snaps me out of it before the attacks happen," This made me believe that what these animals are doing is for the better no matter the species of the animals.
