When reading the title of these articles, I was appalled at the idea of such a prestigious college participating in animal testing. I was imagining something similar to the gruesome videos that PETA regularly releases of animal testing, and was honestly quite surprised that testing on cats at UW Madison was done in such a responsible manner. This also made me question wether the brutality of animal testing that is usually depicted in campaigns like this are the exception or regularly happen.
Although research on animals is not something I agree with, I do believe that the Sandgren held a valid argument. One item that makes his argument especially strong is the fact that PETA knew exactly what was going on in the labs the entire time, but failed to act until pictures were released. This discredits PETA makes them seem like they are only in it for the press of the incident. I thought that UW Madison handled itself well in this situation. I am honestly surprised and happy, like Kim said, that the lab that was conducting the research has been shutdown.
